dental light | Introduction to oral knowledge

What is the structure of the teeth? From the external appearance, each tooth is divided into two parts: crown and root. The crown is the part of the tooth exposed in the mouth, and it is also the main part of the chewing function.

The crowns of anterior teeth include labial, lingual, mesial, and distal surfaces, and the crowns of posterior teeth include buccal, lingual, mesial, distal, and occlusal surfaces. Root Root is the part of the tooth that is fixed in the socket and the supporting part of the tooth. Its shape and number vary with function.

The teeth with weak and simple functions are mostly single root; the teeth with strong and complex functions have a complex crown shape, and their roots are mostly bifurcated into more than two to enhance the stability of the teeth in the jawbone.
